Экшн-коучинг работает между рациональным и иррациональным, его цель — исследовать и отлаживать качество внутренней жизни, которое существенно сказывается на внешних обстоятельствах. Метод Л. Кроля учит находить баланс между когнитивными инструментами (задаванием вопросов по порядку, разбором сути дела) и инструментами чувственными: образами, метафорами, воспоминаниями, невербальным взаимодействием и т. д.

Он складывался из многого: психодрама и гештальт-подход, групп-анализ и семейная терапия, эриксоновский гипноз, коучинг лидеров большого и маленького бизнеса, тренинги с разными группами и в разных странах, а еще — опыт, рефлексии, размышления, непростые поиски внятности. Я ратую за то, чтобы вести диалог с клиентом по законам естественной логики момента, а не «на общих основаниях» и не по раз навсегда заданным правилам. Меня интересуют состояния человека, которые ведут каждого из нас — и консультанта, и клиента — его собственным путем.
